Impact of Iraq War on City Of Babylon

Babylon was one of the cities prevailing in today’s world as witnesses of ancient civilization, traditions and cultures. It was treated as holy city for Babylonians of 2300 BC. And the Hanging garden of the Babylon was one of the ancient wonders of the world. There were many more great monuments in Babylon like Lion of Babylon, a sculpture of 2,600 years old; the Ishtar Gate, etc. It was also mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible as Babel city where people of the Earth were said to construct a temple tower that could reach to heaven.

It is now in Iraq where US troops have invaded and destroyed most of its monuments. They brought down the monuments, as old as 2600 years old, to ground so that they could build parking places for their helicopters and heavy vehicles. The major damage was said to be done for the Ishtar Gate.
